Maryborough and the surrounding towns of the Central Goldfields enjoy four distinct seasons. The climate is generally dry and mild with summer average highs around 28°C and winter highs a chilly 12°C. Days over 40°C are experienced in January and February, while night time subzero conditions and morning frosts are not uncommon in winter.

The winter months are generally the wettest with most of the rain coming as localised heavy showers rather than constant rain or drizzle. An average annual rainfall of around 530mm has created a dry temperate climate and the city of Maryborough and surrounding towns are on permanent water restrictions.
