While the phrase ‘country coffee shop’ might evoke images of purple rinsed-grannies drinking extra-hot cappuccinos, this couldn’t be further from the truth for the café scene in and around Maryborough, not that there's anything wrong with a cafe that offers a good senior's discount. Think Central Goldfields and you should think great coffee, quality locally sourced produce, funky spaces in gold rush-era buildings... now you’re starting to get the idea.
Get up early and follow your nose to jump-start your day with a double latte, and take a seat to tuck into a little brekky (or a big one if that’s your thing). Drop in for a mid-morning baked treat or grab a focaccia to go as you head off on your next adventure in nature while visiting the Central Goldfields. That’s right… people do still eat focaccias, and you know what; they run rings around bagels!
And don’t assume that Maryborough has a monopoly on good coffee out here; there are plenty of north of the Yarra quality baristas popping up in the towns and villages around the Central Goldfields. So if you can’t function without good coffee, it’s no excuse not to come visit this beautiful part of Victoria!
