Dunolly Cork Tree

No trip to Dunolly is complete without visiting the famous 'Cork Tree' at the Dunolly Railway Station.

The tree was planted in 1875, and was threatened with destruction in 1980, when the train line was undergoing an upgrade and the proposed route was to be laid through the tree's location.

The Dunolly Community banded together and as a result the route was altered, and in 2008 the Northern Goldfield's Tourism Association commissioned an arborist to assess the health of the tree, identifying the tourism relevance.

Thankfully this wonderful historic tree is preserved and recognized in our district as an historic icon, for all to visit and enjoy.
