"LOVE" Exhibition

An exhibition not to be missed at the newly rejuvenated Central Goldfields Art Gallery.

An exploration of the multiplicity of love through the visual arts.

Exhibition will be on display until 14 April 2024.

Love is a source of inspiration for visual artists throughout history.  This exhibition explores love expressed through the themes of love of country, nature, self-love and love between people.  The exhibition is drawn from the Central Goldfields Art Gallery collection and other public collections. 

The exhibition also features photographs by Wal Richards, who photographed weddings in Maryborough and surrounds for nearly 50 years from the 1940s.

"Women On Women" Exhibition

Women artists in this exhibition explore the many challenges still facing women in today’s society. From the Suffragettes to the #metoo movement, this exhibition contributes to the current narrative surrounding gender, sexism and ageism. 

Women on Women (WoW) is curated by Satellite Projects in Melbourne in partnership with Central Goldfields Art Gallery. In response to and in support of the National Gallery of Australia’s recent project “Know My Name”.

The exhibition forms part of celebrations for International Women’s Day on 8 March 2024.

This year is the 151st Rheola Charity Carnival held on Easter Monday.

Featuring a great day of events, including wood cutting, the Rheola Gift, live music, tractor pull, dog trials, pony club showjumping, vehicle and motorbike displays, Miss Carnival Girl and Master Tot, novelty rides, luncheon served, afternoon tea, BBQ, bar and much more!

Heritage Tours of the Maryborough Railway Station

Maryborough Railway Station is truly magnificent! Why was it built in this small Victorian country town?

Join our one hour guided tour to explore the myths and stories surrounding the origins of the station.

Our tour guide will also highlight the intended purpose of each section of the station, some of the changes over time, and the craftsmanship and engineering of the day. There may also be some ghost stories.

Afterwards experience the grandeur and visit the former First-Class dining room, now a cafe, for morning or afternoon tea (additional to the tour).
