The Loddon Valley’s bakeries are well worth travelling for. In fact you’d be hard-pressed to find better. Traditionally a bakery is the heart beat of a country town and that’s certainly the case here, where the bakers rise before the sun.

Find old-fashioned Cornish pasties the way the miners used to make them, gourmet pies boasting blue ribbon prizes, sweet treats to swoon over and artisan breads made from locally-milled flour. The flour mill by the Loddon River has been serving the region and beyond for over 130 years. It’s the only functional water-driven mill in the southern hemisphere.

Eat-in for friendly service or take away your bakery fare to enjoy by one of the region’s waterways. Pack your picnic for a day’s prospecting. An egg and bacon pie bought at sunrise makes a great companion for a morning’s fishing.
