Kurracaburn Heights

Kurracaburn Heights, Wedderburn
A short distance up the low hill behind Wedderburn’s town centre and you’re revisiting some of the area’s recent history. Kurracaburn Heights is now a handsome home with a pretty cottage alongside for B&B accommodation, with a developing garden behind. It used to be the hospital, with nurses’ quarters, so you’ll be surprised by the elegant transformation that now makes this an admired landmark of Wedderburn. Hosts Michelle and Bruce are showing off the works of local sculpture-makers, Mara Metal Art, so park off-street in the carpark area in front of the house, and head to the house’s front porch, where you’ll find the Mara sculptures, some robust and strong, some delicately evocative of flora, others just fun and fantastic.
