Terrick Terrick National Park

Enjoy a picnic surrounded by nature at the stunning natural landscape of Terrick Terrick National Park - known for its grasslands, woodlands, wildflowers (particularly in spring), granite outcrops,  and abundance of wildlife with over 100 species of birds, including the critically endangered Plains Wanderer. 

Where to Picnic: Mt Terrick Terrick Picnic Area, with Mount Terrick Terrick as your backdrop, tables, toilets and parking available, making it the perfect stop for a picnic before or after exploring the area.

Kooyoora State Park

Take the scenic drive to Kooyora State Park and enjoy a day out soaking up this incredible park. Things to do and see at this park include exploring caves, walking tracks, lookouts, wildflowers, wildlife, camping and places for a picnic.

Where to picnic: Melville Caves Picnic Area. Tables, an undercover area, a wood barbecue area and a toilet block. (toilets at the picnic area and campgrounds.)

Waanyarra Recreation Reserve

This reserve near historic Tarnagulla is a popular spot for camping, picnics and barbecues. A day out at this peaceful location for a family picnic is a must! With plenty of space for the kids to roam around and explore. Bonus -  furry companions are allowed at this reserve. 

Where to Picnic: The reserve has a well equipped picnic area with shelter, tables, toilets and wood fire barbeque.

Wedderburn Community House Gardens

Wedderburn Community House Gardens, located at the rear of the Loddon Visitor Information Centre, is a delightful public garden filled with stunning natives and established trees—with picnic tables at the front and back gardens. Visit the nursery or the settler's hut in the rear garden during opening hours. 

What else is here? The Loddon Visitor information centre, eucalyptus discovery centre and the charming old Wedderburn Schoolhouse. Toilets are also available during opening hours.

Laanacoorie River Reserve

Picnic by the stunning Loddon River, the Laanacoorie River Reserve is a lovely spot for those looking to spend an afternoon by the water, fishing, walking or enjoying the peace with a good book. 

Where to Picnic: At the reserve, picnic tables, toilets and wood fire barbeques are beside the grassed area facing the Loddon River, and the Janevale Monier Bridge is the perfect spot for a picnic.

Little Lake Boort

Little Lake Boort, the oasis of the North, has many places to enjoy a picnic. Whether by the water's edge, under a willow tree or on the lush green grassed areas, lay out the picnic rug or sit at a picnic table and soak in the stunning surroundings.

Where to picnic: Myrnong Beach picnic area and Rotary Park Picnic grounds are lovely places to lay a rug around the lake. And if you have kids joining, Nolen's Park is ideal, with a playground and toilets beside the lake.

Bridgewater on Loddon

The spectacular Loddon River banks provide an excellent spot for a picnic. Choose to set up your picnic on the lush green grass or sit under the shade of a magnificent old river gum tree. And afterwards, we suggest strolling along the Bridgewater River Track to explore its hidden treasures, like the rapids behind the flour mill.

Where to picnic: Head to the picnic area above the Bridgewater Swimming hole - Here, you will find a sheltered picnic area with benches, toilets, and a barbecue.
