• Soliloquoy: different perspectives of the natural environment by Carol Swain

Overview

In this body of work, Carol conveys her perceptions, thoughts and experiences as she walks through the natural environment, connecting to her inner poetic dialogue with the landscape.

Carol spends time walking in the bush in the Campbell Creek area Castlemaine exploring the colours, abstract/organic shapes, space/s and textures; taking photos and sometimes sketching. Back in the studio these photos are reinterpreted in Photoshop and free hand drawing before translating onto the canvas through the physical act of oil painting. She occasionally draws with pencil and conte crayon directly onto the canvas.

The natural environment becomes an overall experience as she moves through each moment revealing another aspect.
