Overview
Gather brings together makers connected by community who take unique approaches to creating through their chosen materials. Born out of ‘WeStitch’, a small group united by a shared interest in textiles that meets regularly in Castlemaine’s West End to stitch and discuss the essentials of art and life, the aim is to both promote the extraordinary creative talent of Castlemaine and foster a sense of connection.
Coming together as a community, within a community, is fundamental to what makes WeStitch so special. As part of Gather, we invite the community to help create artwork for Castlemaine Safe Space.
Stitching circles will be held every Saturday and Sunday during the exhibition from 10 am to 12 noon. There is no need to book; just come along to the Market Building and enjoy some conversation and creativity. All materials provided but feel free to bring your own stitching projects (knitting, crochet, embroidery, basket-making, whatever!) if you prefer.
We would like to thank our partners in this project, The Good Op Shop and Castlemaine Safe Space. We also extend our gratitude to the Mount Alexander Shire Council for their support through the Community Grants Program.
