• Birdlife Walks

Overview

Local Birdlife Australia walks are held on the first Saturday morning of the month. All ages and birding abilities are welcome.

From 9am - 12pm at a different location around Mount Alexander Shire and beyond each month. Check the website for details.
For carpooling, meet at 8.30am at Community House, 30 Templeton St Castlemaine.

Castlemaine District is one of BirdLife’s newest branches, having been formed in 2018. The area boasts several Key Biodiversity Areas and many birding hot spots such as Rise and Shine Reserve located between Daylesford and Newstead.

Over 200 species have been recorded in the Mt Alexander region, including Brown Treecreeper, Diamond Firetail, Powerful and Barking Owl, Hooded Robin and some cryptic species such as Speckled Warbler and Painted Button Quail.

Bring water, snacks, binoculars, hat, sunscreen and sturdy shoes.

PLEASE NOTE:  Walks cancelled on 35 degree plus days, severe weather warnings, or if the day has been declared a Total Fire Ban.
