Getting to Castlemaine, Maldon and surrounds by car is easy-peasy. Heading out of Melbourne take Citylink towards Melbourne Airport Tullamarine then follow the Calder Freeway for about an hour until you get the Pyrenees Highway and voila.
From Bendigo head south on the Midland Highway (this becomes the Calder Freeway) for about half an hour and you can get to Harcourt, Castlemaine or Maldon.
Maldon has some of the most scenic historic gold fields around. If gracefully wide heritage streetscapes, intact gold rush architecture and a thriving gourmet and artistic scene tickle your fancy, then this cute village might be for you. Come via classic car or hotrod for additional kudos points with the locals, it seems to be the done thing around here.
If you are travelling with a camper van or caravan, we have an RV Dump Point located in the township of Harcourt.
