Getting to Castlemaine by car is easy-peasy. Heading out of Melbourne take Citylink towards Melbourne Airport Tullamarine then follow the Calder Freeway for about an hour until you get the Pyrenees Highway and voila.

From Bendigo head south on the Midland Highway (this become the Calder Freeway) for about half an hour and you’re there. Make sure to take the Harcourt exit take a little look around, what’s the hurry! Then Castlemaine is just down the road.

Just over the hill from Castlemaine and through some of the most scenic historic gold fields around, you’ll discover the little gem of Maldon. If gracefully wide heritage streetscapes, intact gold rush architecture and a thriving gourmet and artistic scene tickle your fancy, then this cute village might be for you. Come via classic car or hotrod for additional kudos points with the locals, it seems to be the done thing around here.
