Built by the owners, Mossbank Cottage is a provincial style, mud brick cottage that is a work of art in itself and features the use of recycled timbers and lead light windows.
Studio style, self contained accommodation, with a cosy ambience and the warmth of wood-fired heating plus the modern convenience of a split system. There is a fully equipped kitchen and gas stove/oven and microwave. The bathroom includes a hip-bath and heated towel rail. The open plan area has a comfortable bed with fine linen, and extra pillows and blankets. The sitting area has a comfortable lounge, TV/DVD and bluetooth speakers. Wifi is provided. Breakfast provisions are supplied with crusty bread and condiments Two night stays include a cheese platter,biscuits and olives, also included are fresh flowers which complete the setting. Outdoors there is a private shaded eating/sitting area with barbecue, and a covered private carport. The cottage is set in a beautiful and tranquil garden which includes a vegetable plot and orchard where guests can sample the produce. Castlemaine has a lot to offer! Learn about the rich history of the goldfields, visit the beautiful Botanical Gardens and art galleries, explore cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops and the Theatre Royal. Other activities include town walks, bike riding, picnics and travel on the vintage train to Maldon.
From Castlemaine Post Office travel north seven blocks to Parker St. Head west along Parker St, turn right after the railway line (Downes Rd). At the end of the Botanic Gardens turn left into Froomes Rd, veering right into Mary St. Turn right into Odgers Rd, Mossbank Cottage is one kilometre on the left, at the corner of Grifiths Lane and Odgers Road.
