Claremont Coach House and the Garden Cottage are self-contained historic buildings on the property "Claremont" dating from 1857. The homestead is situated on 12 acres, surrounded by garden, yet within the boundaries of Castlemaine town. We are a pleasant walk from the Botanic Gardens, along country lanes, with an abundance of wildlife.
At Claremont we aim to provide a private, old world atmosphere for those looking for a comfortable stay in an historic, garden environment. *Pets are welcome by prior arrangement. Claremont Coach House The Coach-house is fully self contained cottage on our property, “Claremont”. It was built c.1860 as the stables and carriage house for the early residents. The 2 storey building can accommodate 6 but only has 2 bedrooms. The large upper storey has a queen bed and a single, and downstairs (in what was a long time ago, a stable) has a double and a single in a bunk style. The kitchen has all amenities (full gas stove, large fridge, a microwave, etc) and all equipment needed for cooking and eating. Being situated on our 12 acre property, guests have the freedom to wander about and enjoy the historic environment, the wildlife and the peaceful, country surrounds. The Botanic Gardens are a pleasant 5 minute stroll away. Just beyond them is The Mill complex. The Garden Cottage This is an 1860s bed-sitter with en suite. Set closer to the main house, in its own leafy lane, it is the perfect third bedroom (and second bathroom) for a larger group staying at the Coach House. On the other hand, it is an equally peaceful setting for a couple looking for an intimate stay in an historic building. Includes kitchenette with fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and electric skillet. Tea and coffee supplied.
