Come the warmer months and Bridgewater on Loddon is water skiing central. Visitors with speed boats-in-tow line the historic street and the Loddon River becomes a highway of waves as thrill seekers make good use of the permanent ski ramp.
Bridgewater is famous as the host of the annual Australian Masters Water Ski Championships each January, which attracts the country’s top skiers for serious competition in trick, slalom and jump. A visit to the town is a must for all water ski enthusiasts, to see three days of seriously skilled competition.
A little further north the is the little oasis of Boort, and the popular Little Lake Boort, a perfect place to carve some waves and participate in many different watersports.
Laanecoorie (which includes a new boat ramp) boasts a secluded and tranquil reservoir with scenic views, and plenty of room for water-skiing sport.
