Outdoor Play Spaces

With playgrounds recently reopening and over 130 to choose from in the Bendigo region, this one is a no brainer.  Your hardest decision will be which one to go to first.

1. Bendigo Botanic Gardens has a magical play space inspired by Alice in Wonderland complete with a secret garden, oversized throne chairs, hedges, hidden mirror and other treasures to explore.

2. Eaglehawk Regional Play Space at Lake Neangar is a must do with an extensive play space with water play, all-abilities equipment, flying foxes, beautiful colours and inspiration drawn from Banjo Patterson’s Mulga Bill poem.

3. Heathcote Lions Playspace is inspired by the region complete with market stalls, water play, an adult-size hammock, flying fox, not to mention a giant wine barrel complete with slides, oversized stepping grapes and so much more.

4. Lake Weeroona Play Space is a local favourite that offers a great play space within the Lake Weeroona precinct.  Plus a walk, ride or scoot around the lake will take around 20 minutes with food and coffee available to break up your outing.

5. Strathdale’s Park Play Space in Crook Street is an award-winning space that provides peace of mind with a fenced playground for little ones of all-abilities, a fun water play space, walking and cycling paths nearby, plus a coffee van on the weekends to keep you well caffeinated.

Go On An Outdoor Adventure

Why not go on an adventure in your own backyard? Explore somewhere new or head out to your favourite spot, it doesn't matter because there are always new things to see and do on every visit.

Some of our favourite local picks for exploring include Crusoe Reservoir on the edge of Bendigo. Take a stroll or ride around the lake, spot wildlife, take a picnic or explore the hidden pine forest - fit for a king or queen, fairy garden or collecting treasures.

Travel a little further and there are countless spots around Lake Eppalock to keep anyone occupied for hours. Walk along the water edge, drop a line, go for a paddle or watch the birdlife all round you. Or jump on your bike and explore via the O'Keefe Rail Trail.

If you're up for something that looks out of this world, check out Heathcote's Pink Cliffs with their beautiful landscape formations and everchanging colours.

Or head out to Loddon Valley for the day for great bush walking, rock scrambling and cave exploring at Melville Caves.
