Chinese

Chinese cuisine has been a part of Bendigo since the gold rush.  It has since transformed to suit a more western palate but nevertheless we love it.  With Chinese restaurants and takeaway shops dotted all over Bendigo and offering a mix of traditional and westernised dishes, here’s a couple of our top picks.

House of Khong offers numerous Asian cuisines but Chinese is their specialty.  This family favourite is great for groups, offers all you can eat lunch and dinner services and you’re always met with a friendly smile from owner Jeannie.

Imperial Palace is another Bendigo favourite for mouth-watering Chinese food full of flavour with an extensive menu and banquet options available to share with family and friends in a relaxed atmosphere.

Italian

Who doesn’t love Italian?  It’s pretty much a staple for most Aussie families.  Endless bowls of pasta and cheesy pizza topped with beautiful produce…yes please!

If you’re looking for a quaint little Italian eatery offering wholesome pasta dishes and barista coffee, look no further than Borchelli Ristorante in the heart of the arts precinct on View Street.  Expect to see traditional checkered table cloths, walls covered in family photos and great service.

For over 40 years, Clogs have been a Bendigo dining institution.  Firstly, they’re family friendly with an extensive kids menu and not only that, your little ones can make their very own pizza dough sculptures while you wait for your meal. Secondly, they’re iconic for their late night dining on Friday and Saturdays.

Spanish

When it comes to Spanish food, eating tapas is a common factor.  So instead of having one large meal, you can enjoy several different dishes in smaller portions shared between family and friends. Yum!

El Gordo is a quirky hole in the wall experience located in Bendigo’s iconic Chancery Lane offering a Spanish experience from day to night.  This popular meeting place offers coffee and café bites by day to a selection of conservas and tapas, paella nights and local wines, craft beers and ciders by night.

Whether you’re looking to cater for a group big or small or its perhaps its date night, GPO has got you covered with their relaxed dining and cool vibe.  Enjoy a selection of tapas, Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine or if you’re after a girls night, they have a great range of cocktails to enjoy in their plush mezzanine lounge.

Located in a quirky laneway, Sangria Spanish Tapas Bar offers an authentic selection of Spanish dishes to Bendigo featuring amazing local produce straight from their family farm.  Our favourite is the chef’s selection and their churros are a must!
