This is one of several works that have been inspired by my bushland environment. I have a long-term obsession with found natural objects which form a large part of my general ‘Collection’. In this case these objects are chosen for their strange ambiguity which I use to facilitate forms inspired by (but not illustrated) to create drawings imbued with mystery and illusion. The objects are there as a starting point and as the drawings progress, I have responded accordingly, inventing connections between the forms and energising the ground.
I am primarily known as a painter, but my practice embraces drawing, sculpture, and installation. A recent installation was accompanied by a soundscape made up of a recording of my voice reading lines from my automatic writing! I have explored many interests in my practice over the years including Landscape, The Veterinary Science Laboratory, my Self, Travel, and many others. My current interest is in the Bush Landscape where I live and have my studio. I am an ideas person and so as a result I respond to all manner of experiences and ideas will often be randomly incorporated into the work I am currently working on.
