'A recent family trip to a YHA eco lodge in Halls Gap, Victoria was the inspiration for this work. We met another family with similar aged children in the communal kitchen and spent an evening playing cards and drinking tea.
'Without photos of the eco lodge I recreated it from imagination to fit the scale of the canvas. The tight geometric design and proportions are reminiscent of Japanese woodblock prints of interior scenes.
'I've attempted to create a calming, slightly humorous work about family and our increasingly important connection to the environment.'
