Some of the most beloved and important artworks in our collection have been donated from private collections or purchased with donated funds.

We greatly appreciate the generosity of our donors. However, all donations must align with our collection policies and our aims as a public institution. 

Artworks offered for donation are assessed for suitability by our staff. This is a multi-stage process which can take some time to reach an outcome. Donors will also be asked to provide information about condition, provenance, and other details.

Donors may wish to donate under the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program. Bendigo Art Gallery occasionally accepts donations through this program, subject to certain parameters.
