'Working from found snapshots that depict the personal and the everyday, Dani McKenzie's practice examines the 'reality' aspect of photographs, the fickleness of memory, and ways of seeing through contemporary painting.
'Looking specifically at the way photography mediates our relationship with the natural world, Road Trip, can be seen as an instance of instability - both strange and familiar - that opens up interpretative possibilities.
'What appears concrete at first glance, begins to recede from the moment you look at it, until the certainty of the quasi-photographic image dissolves in a painterly surface of smudges, scrapes, and blurs.'
