Being on the lookout for a visual surprise or insights, over the past year I've been researching the possibilities of juxtapositions within abstract iconography. More often than not, figurative surprises enable me to transcend the abstract direction. Whilst remaining alert to the possibilities within this approach, in this work I've established an iconic form, a head transported in time by a humble boat.
I'm based in Greater Melbourne, working from a seaside studio on Bunwurrung land. Although I'm best known as a painter, my practice includes work on paper and I was a finalist in the Paul Guest Prize in 2014. I graduated with an MFA from RMIT in 1995 and I've been working full time as an artist since 2012.
