Through her art, mixed media artist and Channel 10 Making It Star Sai-Wai Foo explores ideas about belonging and identity often using repurposed materials to give them new life.

Sai-Wai Foo
Sai-Wai Foo is a Malaysian-born Chinese, Naarm/Melbourne-based artist. Her work explores ideas about belonging and identity, often using repurposed materials to give them new life.
She holds a BA(Hons.) in Fashion from RMIT university and her training in fashion design influences and informs her practice through technique, finish and materials. Working primarily in paper and textiles Foo is a bricoleur who collects discarded and redundant items, deftly synthesizing them into new sculptural forms.

Delicate works of hand-painted porcelain and textile sculptures explore the central place of food in diasporic communities as a source of nourishment, pleasure and connection.
