Follow in the footsteps of the artists who worked in the gardens and streets of belle époque Paris, in this hands-on workshop with acclaimed plein air painter Mark Dober. Mark will guide participants in the art of working outdoors: to select a distinctive view, prepare a composition, and to build up a painting through marks and layers. Learn how to get the most out of watercolour, a lightweight, portable, and fast-drying medium suited to working outdoors and while travelling. Mark will share insights into the importance of plein air painting methods to the Impressionists and the artists who followed, who sought to capture changing light, vibrant colour, and moments of spontaneity.
This workshop is suitable for adults at any level of experience in watercolour painting, including beginners. Materials are included in the ticket price.
The workshop will include a short break for refreshments, which participants can purchase at the Gallery Café or bring from home.
