Gallery Tours for Secondary
At Bendigo Art Gallery, tours are free and tailored to engage all levels and abilities. Our programs are facilitated by art educators who design gallery experiences to extend curriculum-based learning, encouraging students to develop personal and collaborative responses to art and enjoy the excitement of being in a public art gallery. Tours run for approximately 45 minutes and need to be booked at least two weeks in advance.
Throughout tours, students may:
• Discuss art Visual Art elements, materials, and techniques
• Learn about featured artists and their practice
• Develop and share personal responses to art

Please note: To ensure a quality experience, each educator can work with groups of up to 30 students. With two educators delivering tours, we can accommodate up to 60 students in the gallery at any one time (Wed-Fri). Larger groups can be accommodated over additional tour timeslots.
Introduction to Bendigo Art Gallery | Available Wed-Fri throughout the year
Explore the Gallery and learn about our Collection and history with a Bendigo Art Gallery Learning Officer. Students will look, think, and wonder as they are introduced to artworks from a selection of current exhibitions including portraits, landscapes and First Nations artworks. This experience supports Visual Art outcomes through mindful viewing, discussion and sharing within the gallery context.
Explore the Gallery with a First Nations educator | Available Wed-Fri throughout the year
With a First Nations educator, students will look, think and wonder as they are introduced to artworks from a selection of current exhibitions, with a specific focus on First Nations artworks. This experience supports Visual Art and First Nations Perspectives outcomes through mindful viewing, discussion and sharing within the gallery context.
What’s the Story? | Available Wed-Fri throughout the year
Step into a world of imagination and discover the art of visual story telling at Bendigo Art Gallery. Students are invited to use visual thinking strategies, as well as visual literacy skills and language to explore and respond to some of the gallery’s most fascinating artworks. This experience supports Visual Literacy and Visual Art outcomes through mindful viewing, discussion and sharing within the gallery context.
