Bendigo Art Gallery invites participants to create a small botanical scene inspired by the works of Frida Kahlo.
Led by Manda Lane, a botanical papercut artist, this one-hour hands-on workshop allows attendees to assemble their own paper garden through a combination of paper foliage and collage techniques.
Drawing from the vivid botanical backgrounds seen in a number of Kahlo's iconic self-portraits, attendees will explore themes of nature, self-expression, and creativity while crafting their own personalised paper garden.
In addition to the main creative activity, participants will also have the opportunity to interact with a larger-than-life paper foliage backdrop, pre-made by the artist, to provide an immersive experience and a unique photo opportunity.

Manda Lane
Manda Lane is a botanical artist, Melbourne-based street artist and paper installation artist, working out of Everfresh Studios in Collingwood, Australia.
In her public art practice, Manda plays with the urban environment, often using art to re-insert nature back into inner-city locations, while creating work that celebrates the often under-appreciated plants and nature.
Inspired by early scientific illustrations of plants, coupled with modern tattoo design, Manda works predominantly in a monochromatic palette, while aiming to bring a contemporary, delicate and stylised approach to botanical art.
Founded on a daily drawing habit, Manda has a dual practice that includes handpainted murals, as well as hand-cut paper sculptures/installations.
