Week 21: 17 August 2020
Jane Coburn, Harbour Houses 2, 15 August 2020
This is another version of an earlier submission. In gouache & ink again, but using a different limited palette.
Deborah Blake, Reflections before Night, 27 July 2020
Looking through photos taken the week before the present restrictions came into place.
Greg Penno, Peregrine Ridge (acrylic on canvas), 10 August 2020
These are three pieces, acrylic on canvas, and the view from the Peregrine Ridge Winery, East of Toolleen. It’s well worth visiting the Winery for the magnificent view looking east towards Corop and Rushworth.
Lucy Hodson, Rainy Days, 8 August 2020
This was a collaboration between Lucy and her Dad on a rainy afternoon.
Florence Hodson, Roger's Brother, 4 August 2020
Roger is a talking car from a Peppa Pig episode. Florence imagined what his brother might look like and drew him.
Frankie O, Girtie Galah, 8 August 2020
Collage and gold leaf hand embellished print from my One Digital Drawing a Day series. So much fun to muck around with an existing image.
Michael Watson, Mastercopy of Vermeer's 'The Girl with the Pearl Earring' 1665, 10 August 2020
What better way to improve in technical skill than to study and complete an accurate copy of a masterpiece. Countless hours of measuring and correction brought me to this finished attempt at one of the greatest portraits of all time.
Ellen Lee Osterfield, Black Duck (pen and ink), 11 August 2020
I captured the image of this black duck on an outing to Kennington reservoir when the water was quite low and the ground was cracked and dry, making for a very interesting back drop. My first completed artwork in pen and ink!
Eric Kala, Kutsikas Pup, 10 August 2020
Kutsika's pup loves going for walks in the country.
Julie Kala, Magpie nesting, 10 August 2020
A friend took a few photos of magpies gathering nesting material and was happy for me to use this one to paint in oils but I changed the background to include a bit of wattle.
Kathryn Harrison, Bored…, 11 August 2020
I know it is a bit selfish to wallow in boredom but I want my life to be full of people, galleries, theatre, cinemas, restaurants. Instead: ennui.
Lynda Williams, Gone fishing, 11 August 2020
I live in Marong. I sell out of Arts of Olde Bridgewater and Marong Post Office.
Elly Oper, 1950s evening gown, 9 August 2020
This dress was quite the challenge for me and a bit of an experiment. I based the bodice off Marilyn Monroe's pink dress from 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes', the bodice was draped and hand sewn over a bustier then attached to the skirt. Picture taken by my mother.
Dr Michael J Leach, Hyperpolypharmacy, 15 August 2020
Michael is a poet and epidemiologist at Monash University, Bendigo. He originally trained in pharmacy. Michael’s poems reside in 'Cordite', 'The Australian Journal of Pharmacy', and elsewhere. This poem was inspired by reflecting on hyperpolypharmacy—the concurrent use of 10+ medications.
Jin Turpie, Alien Gamer, 14 August 2020
Ann McAlpin, A trinity of Clouds - as Dawn breaks, 15 August 2020
Angela Morrissey, The Revenge of the Killer Hairdresser, 15 August 2020
When I was studying Media at TAFE I was in a dark corridor and a group of peroxide blonde hairdressing students in tight black minis came strutting down the corridor and I thought it looked like something out of a bad horror film! The drawing is Manga inspired.
Andre Sardone, Interactive Bird Feeder, 16 August 2020
This piece had been a half finished test until today when I finally finished it off. As the birds land for the seed, the crossbar pivots and the mill ball hits the bearing. The bell that I bought in Istanbul last year also rings, which announces that the birds are about. These crimson rosellas were quick to test it out.
Credit to Bridget Finch for the photo.
Glenda Anstey-Sprigg, Hidden Riches, 15 August 2020
Using only bisque fired pinch pots and with no way to glaze, completing ceramic work has become interesting. This ceramic container uses alcohol inks and bronze leaf to capture the subtle colours of late autumn. Found objects highlight the riches found in nature.
Vivienne Holmes, Flower (pencil), 15 August 2020
Kay Aitken, Hellebores, 14 August 2020
I was struck by the beauty and variety of these hellebores at The Blue Mountains Botanic Garde, Mount Tomah in 2019. A nice memory now drawn in pencil.
Gillian Fallon, My brother Quentin, 16 August 2020
Pencil drawing drawn from a photo found on Facebook.
Des Lowry, Buster (watercolour), 16 August 2020
With Buster now in his 14th year, I thought it was high time I tried capturing one of his endearing poses, his ‘smile’.
Dale Little, Artist Trading Cards, 16 August 2020
I worked on this collection of Artist Trading Cards to exchange with a dedicated group of embroiderers. Various themes are offered as a focus. I like to experiment with different styles and techniques. These then become inspirations for other pieces of textile art or embroidery.
Jane Ineson, Thanks for the cuppa and a chat. (Graphite), 16 August 2020
Though I did not take them for granted, these privileges are more treasured than ever.
Peter Fountain, landlines #3 (Chalk and acrylic), 10 August 2020
Paul Casey, Two watercolours of two eras., 16 August 2020
Big families share space during daily routines, sometimes for years, as style and house fixtures change.
Barb Fordham, Back track to Barraport (watercolour), 16 August 2020
This watercolour is of a country road I used to bike ride & horse ride on. Great memories!
Bruce Henderson, A panorama take on the side of the road Sunday Afternoon, 16 August 2020
This image is made of 8 frames merged on the computer then manipulated through 16 separate layers to highlight and render different aspects of the view, finally sections of the image were rerendered to give a brush/painted style finish.
Kathryn Stretch, The Two of Us (Acrylic paint on vintage case), 16 August 2020
Zoya Makarova, My daughter Persephone, 11 August 2020
