INFORMATION FOR SCHOOLS

Featuring live performances, special access to workshops plus other opportunities like Q&As, our program takes learning outside the classroom and supports educators to create meaningful experiences, which connect with multiple curriculum learning areas and link to several core capabilities.
Our school program offers:

  • Immersive and unique performances that will help students to develop and engage their senses and communication skills and promote and celebrate imagination.
  • Participation in workshops with some of Australia’s leading artists.
  • Curriculum-relevant performances and extension activities.
  • Value for money.

Ticket prices
Where possible tickets for school and group bookings feature subsidised accessible student pricing with one adult (teacher, support staff etc) attending free per group of 10 students (or part thereof). Ticket prices will be listed on each performance's individual event page.

How do I find out age recommendations or content warnings?
We’ve included handy age indicator tabs on each of the performance listings on the Education Experiences page, and full age recommendations and content warnings (if applicable) are included at the top of each performance/event page.

How can I book?
Your school’s Contact Staff Member completes the online School Booking Form or calls the Box Office on 5434 6100.
Once we receive your booking form, dependent upon availability and capacity, we will reserve the number of tickets indicated on your booking form. You will receive an email confirming this and our Box Office staff will be in contact again prior to the event to confirm numbers and issue an invoice for payment.
Payment is required within two weeks of the performance. Once payment has been received, an email will be sent via Box Office with any final instructions.
Please note individual tickets are not issued for school bookings. Front of House staff will assist you to your allocated seats on arrival.
Our Education Engagement Officer may also be in touch to discuss any extra opportunities or resources with you.
Please refer to the Terms and conditions for school bookings page for more information.

Can we change the number of students we bring?
We recommend you provide as accurate numbers as possible when completing the school booking form. You will be contacted by the Box Office team to finalise all numbers prior to an invoice being sent out. Please note that once an invoice has been issued, no further changes to numbers can be made.

What are the Contact Staff Member’s responsibilities?
The Contact Staff Member is responsible for ensuring that student numbers are accurate, payment is organised and the school is notified of the booked activities.
If the Contact Staff Member leaves the school, or is otherwise unable to proceed with organisation of the experience, it is their responsibility to pass all information of the booking to a new contact before they depart and to inform us of the change of contact.
The school is responsible for supervising all members of the school group and for providing the required number of staff and/or authorised supervising adults to accompany the group.

When are payments for school bookings due?
Payment is required within 7 days of receiving the invoice.
No school or group will be permitted to attend an event if payment has not been received prior to the event date.

Is the Loddon Campaspe Student Excursion Program transport grant still available?
The State Government funded Loddon Campaspe Student Excursion Program has been fully allocated.

How do I indicate our interest in school workshops (where promoted)?
You can indicate your interest on the School Booking Form. Our Education Engagement Officer will be in contact with details once the form is received.

Educational Resources
Many of our 2025 program performances (below) include educational resources - these are included within each relevant performance page.

Some of our students have additional access and support requirements, can you assist?
Our website can help with initial information on accessibility – click Your visit > Universal access > and information by venue is displayed, including links to Access Key information should you require detailed information.
If possible, please outline any access and support requirements or accommodations that may be necessary when completing the School Booking Form.
If you still have queries, please contact our Education Engagement Officer to discuss your school’s particular needs.

Our school requires a risk assessment of the venue before our students attend any activities, where can I find help with this?

What should students know ahead of a performance?
Please discuss appropriate behaviour with your students to ensure that everyone can enjoy the performance. It may be helpful to remind all students of the following:
•    Turn off mobile phones inside the theatre (unless exempt).
•    Photography and video recording is prohibited during the performance.
•    Food and drinks are not permitted inside the auditorium.
•    Listening to headphones may be distracting to other audience members, we discourage their use unless for special medical or learning reasons.
•    Some performances will be interactive and require the audience to respond with clapping, laughter, calling out particular words etc. Taking cues from the performers on the stage is the best way to know when and how this is the case.
•    The performers on stage and staff in our venues are professionals, following their directions/advice is always recommended.

ON THE PERFORMANCE DAY

What happens if we are running late on the day?
If you are running late for a performance or a workshop, please call our Box Office on (03) 5434 6100.
On your (late) arrival for a performance, our Front of House team will admit your group into the auditorium at a suitable break in the performance.

What can students bring with them?
Food and drinks are not allowed in our venues (with the exception of water in enclosed bottles) and all electronic devices must be switched off (unless needed for medical or special learning requirements). For safety reasons, school bags cannot be brought into the auditoriums. School lunches may be stored in the foyers and will be supervised by our staff.

Where can students eat?
Food and drinks are not permitted in our venues, but there are outdoor areas available outside the front of the Bendigo Art Gallery (next door to The Capital) or in Rosalind Park (just a very short walk from The Capital, The Engine Room and Ulumbarra Theatre).

What happens if a student needs to leave during a performance?
If a student needs to leave during a performance, for any reason, please approach a member of our Front of House team for assistance. In some instances, they may not be able to go back into the performance immediately, or at all, but our team will do their best to assist.

Have more questions?
If you have a question we haven’t covered above, please contact our Education Engagement Officer by emailing bvemarketing@bendigo.vic.gov.au or call the Box Office on 5434 6100.
