Witness for the Prosecution is a gripping courtroom drama from Agatha Christie.
Leonard Vole is a charming, struggling young man who befriends a lonely, wealthy older woman named Emily French. When Ms. French is brutally murdered, Vole is arrested because he was named the principal beneficiary of her vast fortune. With his life on the line, Vole turns to Sir Wilfrid Robarts, a highly respected barrister, to defend him.
Act One is in Sir Wilfred's office where we hear Leonard's story and then meet Leonard's wife - Romaine - who seems reluctant to corroborate Leonard's alibi.
Act Two is in the courtroom where a variety of witnesses are called. In a surprise twist, the prosecuting calls Leonard's wife. Just when Leonard's case seems hopeless, new evidence emerges. But in the last 10 minutes, Agatha Christie throws in two surprise twists they we never see coming.
