The Australian Tenors’ versatility spans all genres of the classical tenor repertoire. In April 2022 the Tenors are presenting a magnificent program for the Anzac Celebrations.
Here's a sneak peek: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgWHHPyKfP8
The repertoire for this concert will include; Pack Up Your Troubles, Abide With Me, Brown Slouch Hat, Long Way to Tipperary, I’ll Be Seeing You, The Spirit of the Anzacs. Vera Lynn songs performed by the soprano, White Cliffs of Dover, We’ll Meet Again, and A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square. With stirring renditions of The Last Post and patriotic reading of the poem, The Unknown Soldier.
Five of the best tenor voices in Australia will be bringing romance, excitement, warmth, and humour to their Anzac performances.
Audiences will be thrilled by the ever-popular classical arias from the popular Operas such as the tenor trademark Puccini's Nessun Dorma, Verdi’s Anvil Chorus to popular tenor songs from Man of La Mancha - The Impossible Dream, Les Miserables - Do You Hear The People Sing, and Neapolitan favourites Funiculi Funicular. Other repertoire includes a stirring rendition of The Hallelujah Chorus. Beautiful duets from Phantom of The Opera and The Pearl Fishers are also a part of the program.
Proudly Australian, their performance is never complete without delighting audiences with a sing-along of Australiana songs. The ever-popular Waltzing Matilda, I Am Australian, I Still Call Australia Home, and The Road To Gundagai are among the highlights.
The iconic poem by Dorothea Mackellar, ‘Australia My Country’ set to music, evokes love and the spirit of connection.
The Australian Tenors have performed extensively with Opera Australia, Australian and International Symphonies, and Philharmonic Orchestras.
The concert encapsulates the spirit, the beauty, and vocal demand of truly authentic tenor voices.
The Australian Tenors are: Murray Mayday, Lorenzo Rositano, John Donohoe, Martin Buckingham and Michael Butchard.
Support vocalist, Opera Australia Soprano and backed by The Southern Cross Orchestra under the direction of Musical Director and Conductor: Mr Glenn Amer.
