Nexus BYT presents Cameron Mackintosh’s legendary production of Boublil and Schönberg’s Les Misérables. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption – a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The story begins with ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, who embarks on a new life after a bishop inspires him by a tremendous act of mercy and grace. Vowing to start an honest life under a new identity, Valjean breaks his parole and consequently is hunted for decades by the ruthless police inspector Javert.
Now a wealthy factory owner and mayor of a small town, Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s young daughter, Cosette. Years later, on the eve of the June Rebellion, a grown Cosette falls for a passionate revolutionary, Marius. Meanwhile, Javert continues his relentless pursuit, swearing to bring the escaped convict to justice.
Prepare to be swept into the revolutionary period of France, where a group of young idealists attempt to overthrow the government from the foot of their street barricade. Join Nexus BYT in this harrowing, inspiring and ultimately breathtaking journey, performed in Bendigo’s iconic Capital Theatre. Featuring the songs ‘I Dreamed A Dream’, ‘Bring Him Home’, ‘One Day More’, and ‘On My Own’ – Les Misérables is a global stage sensation, witnessed by more than 70 million people in 51 countries.
