Once upon a time, in a faraway swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. Shrek’s precious privacy is suddenly shattered when an invasion of annoying fairytale creatures are banished to his swamp by the short-tempered bad guy, Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. Shrek sets out to confront Farquaad and meets a wisecracking donkey that accompanies him on his journey to get back his home. Farquaad and Shrek strike a deal, if Shrek can rescue the feisty Princess Fiona from her dragon guarded castle and return her to Farquaad for him to marry and become King, Shrek can have his swamp back. Shrek and Fiona meet and learn from each other that you should never judge a book by its cover. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and conquer Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.
Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek the Musical based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film. It's a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone's favourite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairytale, Shrek the Musical is a hilariously fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.
