Music for Cello and Piano, David Berlin cello & Benjamin Martin piano
Internationally acclaimed musicians from Melbourne will present jewels of classical music for cello and piano. In this duo recital, the two masters will take you through a musical journey exploring Beethoven’s Judas Maccabaeus and Grieg’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, Copland’s Piano Variations, and Barrière’s Cello Duo joined by a guest artist, Raechel Suh.
David has enjoyed an orchestral career spanning over 35 years as principal cellist of Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (1985-1988) and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (since 1989). David is also an acclaimed soloist, a chamber musician and a recording artist. His recording of works by Barber & Debussy with pianist Len Vorster with the Tall Poppies label was nominated by James McCarthy as one of the best classical CDs of 2011 in Limelight Magazine. David plays on a cello made by Ivan Zgradic in Sherman Oaks, California in 1982.
Benjamin Martin is dentified by Newsday NY as an 'Excellent craftsman', The New York Times as 'Distinctive, arresting in style' and The Australian in 2000 as ‘The best young talent for the new millennium’, pianist/composer Benjamin Martin has become known as an artist of exceptional versatility and subtlety of expression.

The Venue: Bendigo Bank Theatre
