Inventi have established themselves in Melbourne and are a leading force in Australian chamber music. Award winning performances in Australia’s leading concert halls and at festivals around the country have led to an enthusiastic following of their innovative programming and outstanding performance style. They are one of the most prolific chamber ensembles in Australia, with over 80 diverse concerts in their 2023 season.

Winners of the Melbourne Recital Centre’s Contemporary Masters Award, their shows are an interactive and dynamic experience which engage with audiences of all ages and abilities.  They regularly work with a diverse range of collaborators from animators to storytellers, artists and songwriters.  Inventi’s deep commitment to community outreach is a core part of their artistic practice.  They regularly take their high-quality performances into aged care centres with their 'Music Space' project, also engaging with musicians of all ages and abilities in their community music performances, and workshops including ‘side by side’ projects, improvisation and composition. Inventi is an exciting voice in Australian music.

Inventi are renowned for their impressive arrangements of large-scale orchestral works for chamber ensemble (in collaboration with Melbourne’s Glynn Davies) and their dedication to regularly commissioning and performing new works by living Australian composers, many of which have gained worldwide recognition -  international festival performances and competition winning works. Their discography is growing, with two new albums released in Nov 2020: ‘Women of the Earth’ celebrating Australian female composers and ‘Peer Gynt’ which debuted in the Top 20 of the ARIA Charts.

Through the lockdowns from COVID-19, Inventi proudly continued to offer paid work to Victorian musicians and pivoted to online performances for communities across Melbourne, including children’s interactive online workshops, online aged care concerts and in addition, by commissioning, premiering and recording 7 new works from Melbourne composers. This provided a vital lifeline through the lockdowns, to audiences, musicians and composers alike.

Inventi have unmistakably had a positive benefit and impact on the careers of many artists and Inventi’s diverse contribution to the Australian arts sector is unparalleled.

Cushion Concert

A cushion concert experience of this performance is also available at 10:30AM.

Cushion concerts are live performances for children by local as well as internationally recognised musicians. They are affordable and presented in a relaxed and friendly environment.

We choose music that is stimulating for young listeners, make sure each concert is unlike the last and keep the performance under 40 minutes.

Children bring a cushion (or borrow one of ours), as well as a teddy and a snack. If they need to move around to get a better view, want to dance or stretch out on the floor, that's fine. If a child has a question or want to talk about the performance – that's great.

Tickets are $5 per child (with accompanying adult free).  Additional children or adults $5 and children under 12 months are free.
