Presented by Bendigo Theatre Company

Classic Broadway at its show-stopping best comes to Bendigo! Considered by many to be the greatest of all Broadway musicals, this Tony-winning favourite follows a rowdy bunch of gamblers, gangsters, and sassy showgirls in a wild game of chance—then love comes calling! Set in Damon Runyon’s bustling 1950s Manhattan, Guys and Dolls features Frank Loesser’s brassy, immortal score, including the hilarious “Adelaide’s Lament” and the crowd-pleasing classic “Luck Be a Lady.”

Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend, nightclub performer Adelaide, laments that they’ve been engaged for fourteen years! Nathan hatches a plan to get the dough from a bet with fellow gambler Sky Masterson, and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as a result. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.

The Venue: Ulumbarra Theatre

Meaning ‘gather together’ or ‘meeting place’ in the language of the local Dja Dja Wurrung people, Bendigo’s Ulumbarra Theatre rises majestically from what was once the Sandhurst Gaol.
