STRICTLY BALLROOM THE MUSICAL is the inspiring story of championship ballroom dancer Scott Hastings, who defies all the rules to dance his own steps and follow his heart. This uplifting and courageous tale originated as a stage play that Baz Luhrmann created as a student at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA), in Sydney back in 1984 and became an iconic Australian film in 1992. Thirty years later, audiences are still in love with the 70s and 80s music, including "Love is in the Air", "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps" and "Time After Time", as well as songs from acclaimed artists and composers such as Eddie Perfect (composer of Broadway Hit Musicals including King Kong and Beetlejuice), recognisable Australian caricatures and the enduring love story of Scott and Fran.
Girton Grammar School proudly presents Strictly Ballroom The Musical at Bendigo’s Ulumbarra Theatre, our first post-Covid lockdown musical since the sold out production of Matilda The Musical in 2019.
You don’t want to miss this unforgettable production that will make your heart soar, your feet want to dance and discover that ‘a life lived in fear is a life half lived’.
