Courage, adventure, spirit and loyalty – the defining features of the female hero of the ancient Chinese folktale, Mulan Jr, will inspire young audience members and capture the hearts of all.
When the Chinese Emperor orders one man from each family to make a stand against the invading Huns, a brave young girl, wishing to protect her ailing father from the rigours of war, disguises herself as a male warrior and prepares for battle.
Evading the arranged marriage that will bring her family honour, Mulan, along with her fellow recruits, is trained in combat and endures the horrors of battle, forging friendships along the way and becoming strong and independent.
Mulan’s story takes us to the mountains where she and fellow warriors are ambushed, to the imperial city, the Emperor’s Palace, and ancient Chinese villages, with Mulan using the art of disguise in different ways to earn her honour and eventually, to take her back to her much-loved family.
With an epic storyline, rooted in ancient Chinese traditions and the timeless qualities of composure, grace and discipline, Mulan Jr is a heart-warming tale for the whole family.
