How should we live in a diverse society?  It's a question that has been asked with increasing urgency in recent years as the question of immigration, and in particular of Muslim immigration, has taken centre stage in public debate. Kenan Malik cuts through the myths created by both left and right and asks us to rethink what we mean by diversity and why it is a good.

Kenan Malik is a British writer and broadcaster, and a columnist for the Observer. His most recent books are From Fatwa to Jihad: How the World Changed from The Satanic Verses to Charlie Hebdo and The Quest for a Moral Compass: A Global History of Ethics.

He will be in Australia as the keynote speaker at the Welcoming Cities conference in Brisbane, prior to this appearance in Bendigo, where he will be in conversation with Julie Rudner, from the Community Planning and Development Program at La Trobe University.

This is a Bendigo Writers Festival Bookmark event.
