Forests and ‘the woods’ turn up in so many of our favourite stories, fables and tales.

These wild environments are a part of our cultural DNA. The connection between the land and people is vividly expressed in our stories. So often the wild environments are places for journeying and transformation.

DENDRON explores these ideas in a physical theatre project produced by CreateAbility, an inclusive arts company based in Bendigo.

CreateAbility has developed a way of working to go deeply into the emotional and mythic currents within stories. An immersive world is created for audiences to enter exploring all our senses.

DENDRON is a journey through the woods, guided by both what is known and what is unknown, to conjure the spirit of the land.

Please note that there is no seating in this performance. Audience members will follow the action, guided through the performance space. If you require seating please make your needs known at the time of your booking so that accommodations can be made.

The Venue: Ulumbarra Theatre

Meaning ‘gather together’ or ‘meeting place’ in the language of the local Dja Dja Wurrung people, Bendigo’s Ulumbarra Theatre rises majestically from what was once the Sandhurst Gaol.
