Roald Dahl is famous the world over for incredible stories. His most well-known are children’s stories, including Fantastic Mr Fox, The BFG and Matilda. Utilising humour, sarcasm, and nonsensical language, Dahl’s writing grasps the imagination of children like few other authors. Often writing from the perspective of a child, it is little wonder his stories are so well known by people from all places and all walks of life.
Bendigo Theatre Company is incredibly excited to bring Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to the Ulumbarra Theatre in 2022. Featuring the kind Charlie Bucket, the spoilt Veruca Salt, the greedy Augustus Gloop, the crude Violet Beauregarde, and the lazy Mike Teavee, this story takes you on an adventure through the magical world of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. These five holders of the exclusive Golden Ticket spend a day in a wonderful world of pure imagination, learning important lessons about themselves, guided by the elusive and eccentric Candyman: Willy Wonka.
Sure to be a hit for the whole family, this production will come to the Ulumbarra Stage from July 7-10 in 2022. Make sure you save the date now!

The Venue: Ulumbarra Theatre
Meaning ‘gather together’ or ‘meeting place’ in the language of the local Dja Dja Wurrung people, Bendigo’s Ulumbarra Theatre rises majestically from what was once the Sandhurst Gaol.
