Bendigo has produced many outstanding international classical musicians over many years. This year, six of Bendigo’s most talented, outstanding young musicians will be on show in one concert. Bendigo Symphony orchestra has invited six young up and coming musicians to play a solo with the orchestra. This concert will celebrate young talent from Bendigo and give these musicians an opportunity to perform with a full symphony orchestra.

This concert will feature Lily Begg on piano, Anika Weibgen on oboe, Alicia Parry on tuba, Archie Bate on cello, Noah Lawrence on cello and Blaze Houlden on saxophone.

Music in the program will include Grieg Piano Concerto, Haydn Oboe Concerto, Vaughan-Williams Tuba Concerto, Elgar Cello Concerto, Boccherini Cello Concerto and music by Astor Piazolla.

In 2019, the Bendigo Symphony orchestra has provided opportunities for musicians through 12 year old Edward Walton playing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, young musicians playing with the orchestra at the recent “Music from the Screen” concert, playing new compositions in August and a final concert with six rising stars of classical music. The orchestra aims to contribute to Bendigo’s musical world by providing opportunities and 2019 has been full of opportunities.
