Brilliant Young Violinist Returns to Bendigo

Hearing a twelve year old play like a master is an exciting experience.

Last year Edward Walton played the Mendelsohn Violin concerto with the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra to a standing ovation. This year he will return on Palm Sunday – April 14th to play the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. In 2019 Edward won 1st Grand Prix at the Jeunes Artistes musicales du centre under 19 competition in France. He is a brilliant Melbourne musician and unassuming young man who has worked with the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra to present this wonderful, popular work.

This concert, thanks to the support of the Ulumbarra Foundation is conducted by Dr Michael Lichnovsky. The orchestra is enjoying Michael’s wealth of experience and limitless energy in rehearsals and he will provide a special performance.

He holds advanced degrees from the Victorian College of the Arts (Conducting) and the University of Iowa (Saxophone Performance and Pedagogy). Throughout his career Michael has been involved with writing, commissioning, performance, chamber music, conducting and teaching at all levels, and is in demand as a guest lecturer at school and university levels, where his belief that positive relationships, supportive cultures and showing one's love of music are key. Michael is a guest lecturer and conductor throughout Victoria. Bendigo is very fortunate to have him as a teacher at Girton Grammar school.

A highlight of the program will be the Dvorak Symphony No. 9  - The New World. This popular and well known symphony is a joy to play and experience. It’s enchanting melodies and contrasts will fill St Paul’s cathedral and give you an experience to remember.

The concert is on Sunday 14th of April at 2.30pm. Tickets are available on GOTIX or at the door. Pre purchased tickets will allow reserve seating.

Bendigo Symphony Orchestra has a series of three concerts in Bendigo in 2019. They begin featuring a brilliant young artist on Palm Sunday. The second concert will be on 23rd of June with music “from the screen” with young talented musicians from Bendigo, then a program of concertos with outstanding performers from Central Victoria on October 13th.

Please note any tickets purchased through will automatically have there seats reserved in the front half of the auditorium.
