Bendigo Symphony Orchestra will perform a Beethoven program under the baton of Luke Severn.

This will be the second of the BSO concert series for 2022 with two more to follow in September and December.

The Seraphim Trio will perform with the support of City of Greater Bendigo, Beethoven’s Concerto for Violin, Piano and Cello in C major, otherwise known as the Triple Concerto.

Winners of the Piano Trio Prize and the Audience Choice Award at the Australian National Chamber Music Competition in 2001 (now the Asia-Pacific Chamber Music Competition) the Seraphim Trio never fails to delight audiences.

With over 28 years on the concert circuit together Seraphim Trio is widely recognised as one of Australia’s most refined and experienced trios and is praised by critics for its absolute sonic cohesion and uniform musical maturity.

ANNA GOLDSWORTHY (piano) is currently a Lecturer at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide, Research Fellow at the J.M. Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice at the University of Adelaide, and Kenneth Moore Memorial Music Scholar at Janet Clarke Hall. Anna has published two memoirs, Piano Lessons and Welcome to Your New Life, and is author of the Quarterly Essay Unfinished Business.

Also residing in Adelaide, HELEN AYRES (violin) is a Doctoral graduate of the University of Melbourne. She has appeared as guest of numerous Australian ensembles including Flinders Quartet, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra,  Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and guest principal with Orchestra Victoria and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Helen is currently playing as a guest with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and studying pedagogy at the Yehudi Menuhin School.

TIMOTHY NANKERVIS (cello) is a member of Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Soloists and Sonus Quartet. He was a member of the inaugural Australian World Orchestra in 2011, teaches at Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music and tutors regularly for Sydney Sinfonia, Sydney Youth Orchestra and Australian Youth Orchestra.

Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to hear the trio play Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with a full orchestra.  This is the only concerto Beethoven ever completed for more than one solo instrument. The concerto is full of beautiful melody and dynamic solo playing from each of the three soloists.

This concert will also feature one of Beethoven’s most loved symphonies, the Seventh. Famous for its emotional and building second movement, which has made appearances in many films (most notably The King’s Speech), the Symphony burns with nostalgia, glistens with hope, and jumps with energy (especially in the driving finale). If you enjoy a racing pulse and working up a good sweat, Symphony No. 7 is the one for you!
