A number of recent Creative Communities projects have included a publication. These have been a valuable way to record and reflect on the project and the contribution of our arts community.
In addition to print, pdf copies are available to read online.
Creative Heathcote
Creative Heathcote is a publication that has been commissioned by the Creative Communities team at Bendigo Venues and Events, a unit of the City of Greater Bendigo.
Its aim is to profile artists working and living in the Heathcote area and venues that support the local arts sector and encompass the visual arts, crafts, performing arts, writing and film.
Creative Heathcote magazine What I did last week
During the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020, we created an online exhibition as a way of sharing work and encouraging art-making.
Local artists were invited to submit a single still image – a photograph, a photograph of an artwork or a digital image and text to describe the artwork, or the idea behind it.
Over 32 weeks we collected 780 artworks by 175 artists.
These pages record that work.
What I did last week homepage No Longer on Mute
No Longer on Mute was developed during COVID-19 lockdowns in 2021 as a way of giving a voice to young people living in Greater Bendigo.
In August and September 2021 young people were asked to submit a piece of text, up to 50 words; there was no set theme or genre.
From December 2021 to 2022 the work received was exhibited in Pennyweight Walk Open Air Gallery.
The works come from 93 people aged 3 to 25 living across the Greater Bendigo region.

RAW Arts Awards Homepage My healthcare Story
The aim of the exhibition was to profile artwork that told the story of health and wellbeing from the perspective of people working in the healthcare sector. The exhibition included art that was about the artist’s personal experience of illness, role as a carer or broader sense of health and wellbeing.
